trailing stop order

Postby eeps24 on Mon Dec 21, 2009 2:24 pm

I never did a trailing stop order before, my question is... when I select to sell, there is a box that says "STOP PARAM." I dont enter my sell price correct? just the amount I want it to trigger at.

example

if I have AMD and its currently at $9 a share but I want the trailing stop order to activate when the stock loses .50 cents, so then I would put .50 in the STOP PARAM box?

I wouldnt put 8.50 in that box correct?

in your example assuming you selected T-STOP $, then yes, you would enter 0.50

OK, I need help. The answer may be staring me in the face, but I don't see it.

I placed a Trailing Stop Loss Order online via the TDAmeritrade website. Later I wished to cancel or modify this order via my iPhone 3gs. Using iStockManager I could see my order, but I couldn't do a damn thing with it. Tapping on the order didn't open a page to edit/cancel/modify, nor do I see any of those buttons on the main order page.

So...what am I missing here? Please advise.

Other than the above issue, I love the app.

Thanks for the help.

tapping on a trailing stop order should get you an option to cancel the order. Trailing stop orders are not editable

I checked and did get the cancel option. Can you check again? and indicate which version of iStockManager you are using please.

I updated to 2.0 last week. Unfortunately, I was stopped out last Thursday...which is when I wanted to tighten my stop.

As you requested, I just entered a conditional order via the TDA website, and I was able to cancel the same via the iPhone. I don't have any Stop loss orders open at the moment to play with to verify further. The only difference between now and last week, is my buy order had been executed, while my Stop Loss order had not and was still active. Shouldn't make a difference, but I can't offer any other explanation. I can tell you that today, I did get a pop up to cancel the order, whereas before I got absolutely nothing! Go figure...

After I review the charts, I may place some orders on Monday. If I do, and have another issue, I'll get back with you.

How long before we can do conditional orders via IStockManager??

Thanks for the reply.

ah, this was part of a conditional order - that might be different. Was it an OTA order with a BUY and a Trailing Stop? I did check that just now and was able to cancel either leg. Cannot test with a fill till Monday

Yes, that's exactly what it was.

Thanks
